Portrait Diptych

Stillness vs. Motion

There's not much to say about the meaning behind these photos. The focus of this series was more on the difference of emotion given off by the photos in each pair.

  1. I think that this series of photos was done very well and I like the idea behind it. I think that doing this photo in black and white was a good idea because it shows the contrast between the model and the background. However I think that, in each photo, the top portion was a little too dark and it left out some detail to the models hair. I also think that the rest of the lighting was done very well also and it showed the details to the face and arms. I think the focus is good as well because even though the model was in motion it remained in focus and maintained the details.
I think that the most successful photograph out of this series was the first one because it had the least amount of blur out of all the photos but it still depicted the movement of the model perfectly. This photo also showed the most detail in the model and I think that her hair really gave the photo something else that made it better. I think that each of these photos would be better if there weren’t as many wrinkles in the background because it looks a little strange for a background, however it does add texture to the photo which is also good and for this series based on motion it could have been a good idea as well. I feel that this photo was a lot better than most of the other people's photos that I have seen.
